From Zams, cross the Inn and walk along the Inn until shortly before Landeck. There you meet the Sonnenweg trail, which you follow to the Pirchanger junction. Via Pirchanger, you follow the path up to Stand and through the plum orchards of the Stanzer Zwetschke gourmet region to Grins at an even altitude. In Grins, the Way of St James leads over the Roman bridge through the village, past the healing water fountain and on via Pians and Strengen to Flirsch.
Worth seeing on the way:
Zammer Lochputz
This popular excursion destination offers dizzying insights into one of the most beautiful wild waters in Tyrol. Over centuries, the water has created the mysticism of the Zammer Lochputz gorge in Zams and with the water adventure trail, anyone can now explore the wild natural beauty via tunnels, footbridges and bridges.
Distillery village of Stanz - Stanzer Zwetschke gourmet region
The sunny plateau above Landeck is one of the highest fruit-growing regions in Europe. This is also where the famous "Stanzer Zwetschke" plum grows, which has helped the region earn the title of "Austria's Region of Delight". There are around 150 households and 53 distilleries in Stanz, with 80 distillers still very actively practising their distilling rights today. In 2005, Stanz was named Austria's first distillery village. On a guided tour of a distillery, you can look over the distillers' shoulders and, of course, taste the fine spirits.
Jakob Prandtauer - Birthplace
Jakob Prandtauer was born in 1660 in the former Löwenwirtshaus in Stanz. He rose from a humble peasant boy to become one of the most important master builders of the Austrian Baroque period (his main and life's work was Melk Abbey). Today, the Kössler distillery is located in the house where he was born.
Grins Kneipp facility
On the eastern edge of the village of Grins, directly on the hiking trail between Grins and Stanz, lies the Kneipp facility, which is fed by its own drinking water spring. Information boards indicate the correct way to use the facility. The facility is freely accessible.
Healing water fountain in Grins
The healing water from the old Wildbad springs is available to everyone at the village fountain in front of the town hall. A drinking cure with this water helps with chronic liver and biliary tract diseases, intestinal sluggishness, gout and various skin diseases.
