Schrofenstein ruins

To the east of Stanz and above the district Perjen, the Schrofenstein ruins are located on a rocky ledge.

The traffic routes to South Tyrol, over the Fernpass and the Arlberg were once supervised from the castle. From the 13th century, the castle was owned by the Schrofenstein famliy. Today it is privately owned.
