The Hofkirche with the tomb of Emperor Maximilian I is the most important monument in Tyrol and the grandest of all imperial tombs in Europe. The cenotaph is flanked by 28 larger-than-life bronze figures depicting the kinship of Emperor Maximilian I and his role models.
Marble reliefs depicting scenes from the life of Emperor Maximilian I adorn the tomb. Artists like Albrecht Dürer or Peter Fischer d. Ä. have participated in the execution. Other attractions in the Hofkirche include the Ebert Organ, the Silver Chapel and the final resting place of the Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer.
