The Upper Austrian Jazz Orchestra (UAJO) presents SaltChamberMusic for Jazz Orchestra: a program that explores the tension between tradition and counterculture. Elements of traditional music and established playing techniques serve as the starting point for new compositions developed by the musicians of the orchestra themselves.
Vocalist Ali Gaggl and violinist and composer Johannes Dickbauer expand the orchestral sound and create bridges to other musical genres.
With over 30 years of experience, 14 CDs of its own programs and collaborations with international jazz greats such as Kenny Wheeler, Slide Hampton, Mike Stern and Maria João, the UAJO has established itself as an institution of creative jazz music. Its particular strength lies in the diversity of the orchestra members' musical approaches and their continuous artistic development.
