Exhibition "The life and work of the sculptor Dominikus Trenkwalder" - Galerie Kronburg

The Tyrolean artist Dominikus Trenkwalder, who died in 1897, is one of the well-known local representatives of historicism with his sacred depictions. Bruno Habicher researched Trenkwalder's complete works over a period of 15 years and published a comprehensive documentation in book form in 2018. As an exhibition initiator and curator, he now gives insights into the life and works of the wood and stone sculptor in the Kronburg Gallery in Zams - thus into a piece of important Tyrolean art history.

Bruno Habicher came into contact with Trenkwalder's work for the first time as part of his previous work as administrator of the seven Innsbruck cemeteries. This has moved Habicher, who was born in the Oberland and lives in Innsbruck, to follow in the footsteps of the gifted Landeck sculptor since the 1990s. He already had experience as an author through two works that he wrote on the subject of “Pozuzo” in 2003 and 2009. Information on the stages of life as well as the varied artistic career and comprehensive image material of Trenkwalder's sculptures finally led to a richly illustrated documentation on more than 100 pages, which was published in 2018. This work in book form was followed by an exhibition concept that, in a compact form, recalls the importance of Dominikus Trenkwalder and his expressive sacred works.
