Oldfinstermünz round

From Landeck follow the Inn cycle path to Pfunds and on to the historic Altfinstermünz, an old toll and customs station. The tour is a nice trip for the whole family.

Via the Gerberbrücke bridge, continue along the Inn cycle path to Urgen and on to the Pontlatz bridge. Then over the Pontlatz bridge the old federal road towards Prutz and over Ried, Tösens and Pfunds to the fortress Altfinstermünz, which was the judicial or customs post for the region of Lower Engadine, Nauders and Pfunds from the 9th to the 11th century. The way back leads over the same route.

Attraction: Altfinstermünz

The former border and customs site of Altfinstermünz, situated in the Inn gorge between Pfunds and Nauders, presents itself today as an attractive and interesting monument from the late Middle Ages. The history of the Finstermünz fortifications begins in the 11th century, when a spacious rock cave was converted into a castle. From the 13th century, a toll had to be paid to maintain and expand the road.

The section runs for approx. 44 km from Martina (CH) via Pfunds, Ried, Prutz, always near the Inn to Landeck.

Cycling tour: Landeck Reschenpass

From Landeck via Prutz and Pfunds along the historic Via Claudia Augusta up to the Reschenpass.
From 2 September, the Martinsbrucker Straße/Martina - Norbertshöhe road will be closed to cyclists! (Daytime closure Mon-Fri from 08.00 to 18.00). During the period of the closures, cyclists must use Altfinstermünz/Bierweg as an alternative route.
