Stanz-Schrofenstein ruins

From Stanz the trail leads eastward slightly ascending and without much change of direction to the end of the forest road, from where you have a magnificent view to the ruin Schrofenstein. Back the round leads to the Kreuz Tragenden, then further down to the Dorfwirt and the starting point.

From the parking lot you walk 150 m east along the Jakobsweg, past the house of baroque master builder Jakob Prantauer (Edelbrennerei Christoph Kössler), and after another 50 m turn left. Now follow the road for 650 m until you leave the asphalt road to the left in front of a farm building onto a forest path. Follow the forest road for 400 m to the end of the forest road, from where you have a great view of the Schrofenstein ruins. The Schrofenstein ruin is privately owned and cannot be visited. Back at the first house turn right to the "Waldweg Stanz-Grins". Then follow the path until you reach the sculpture "der Kreuz Tragende" (by Christian Moschen). From there you walk down to the Stanzer Dorfwirt and back to the parking lot.
