Long-distance hike (from 4 days): Memminger Hut Zams E5

From the Memminger Hütte, the challenging long-distance hiking trail E5 leads over the Seescharte (2,599m) down through the Zammer Loch to Zams.
From summer 2025, the section from the Burschlwand to Zams will run along a new route for probably 4 years, as the path to the Bäuerinnenkapelle chapel is closed due to the construction work for the highway tunnels.

Eagle Walk Stage 21 Württemberger Haus Memminger Hütte

Long-distance hike (from 4 days): Eagle Walk Stage 21 Württemberger Haus Memminger Hütte

Ranking among the supreme ridge-running, cloud-probing, flower-swaying, peak-peering jaunts in all of the Lechtal Alps, the trek to Memminger Hütte Hut will have you hopping with joy with its nonstop horizon-spanning views of jagged ridges, cirques, flanks and colossal summits, though you'll work hard to reap those rewards. Once aloft on the ridgetop, the trail gains 2,657-metre Großbergspitze Spire and 2,612-metre Großbergkopf Peak along a precipice that is assisted by a fixed anchoring system of cables. A vigorous climb switchbacks up to Seescharte Notch; beyond it’s a knee-jarring descent to Memminger Hut, where a necklace of three sparkling Alpine lakes is flanked by rocky peaks.

Eagle Walk Stage 22 Memminger Hütte Ansbacher Hütte

Long-distance hike (from 4 days): Eagle Walk Stage 22 Memminger Hütte Ansbacher Hütte

Gullies resemble large ditches, small valleys or narrow chasms, incised into the rock by the cascading waters of thundering creeks and brooks. On this walk, you’ll encounter lots of them, along with notches, crests, ridges, steep flanks and scree slopes that will keep your pace in check. The rewards are great--outstanding views, clean air, and relatively few people to share the trail with--but be prepared to work for every view you get. Make your way down into Parseiertal Valley on steep and exposed tussock slopes, before climbing up to Langkar Cirque and Grießlscharte Notch. Beyond Winterjöchl Col, the trail passes behind Stierkopf Mountain, and resumes its climb up Kopfscharte Notch across rugged terrain. From the notch, head south towards Ansbacher Hut on wide open tussock slopes, drinking fine views and savouring precious Alpine moments on your way.
